Donato Bonifazi, CEO of CVBF and Board Member of the Teddy European Network of Excellence for Paediatric Research, presented in the Global CardioVascular Clinical Trialists (CVCT) Forum in Washington DC on the 10th of December 2024.

The event is a mission-driven brainstorming and think-tank forum aimed at “moving the needle” to advance various aspects of Cardio-Kidney-Metabolism (CKM) trials. It brought together experts from academia, clinical research, and the biotech industry to discuss and explore progress in clinical research.

Our CEO delivered two presentations: in the “Paediatric Cardiology Specific Clinical Trial Considerations” session, he discussed “What are ideal drug candidates for study?”, emphasizing the challenges and significant gaps in developing and approving paediatric cardiology drugs in the EU, while highlighting the need for innovative strategies to establish an ideal clinical research environment for testing drug candidates in this field.

During the “Getting a Paediatric Cardiology Device to Trial” session, he presented the “EU perspectives on using real-world (RWD) data in regulatory decision-making” highlighting how RWD and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are revolutionizing paediatric cardiology device development by addressing challenges related to small populations and the rarity and diversity of cardiovascular diseases, while EU initiatives drive innovation and strengthen regulatory frameworks for faster and safer patient care

CVBF’s participation demonstrates the organization’s ongoing commitment to paediatric cardiovascular research.
