The “Advanced Course on Paediatric Clinical Trials (CTs) and Paediatric Drug Development – 1st Regular Edition” organized by the Conect4Children (c4c) Consortium, a collaborative network for European clinical trials for children, will take place between September 12th, 2022 and the end on April 27th,2023. Registrations are open from June 14 to August 31.  

This fully online course is free of charge and is directed to nationally selected students belonging to c4c Beneficiaries and/ or Third Parties and also to EFPIA Partners. There is a maximum number of 50 participants for the whole c4c Consortium. Also, it is accredited by Continued Professional Development (CPD) Certification Service.  

Interested students on this course includes: Investigators, sub-investigators, Clinical Research Nurses, Study Coordinators, Data Managers, Clinical Monitors, Scientific Manager working in the National Hubs and linked clinical sites, and any other role involved in paediatric CTs. 

The aim is to educate health care professionals involved in clinical trials about the scientific, methodological, and practical issues associated to the design, conduct, analysis, management, and reporting of CTs conducted in the paediatric population. It will also support students to actively participate in CT teams, conduct robust CTs in all paediatric age ranges and deliver high quality data.  

Moreover, this course will support continued professional development by helping participants to acquire additional competences in all the specific aspects of paediatric pharmacology, drug development, evaluation as well as the regulatory requirements for the use of medicines in the paediatric population. 

The course consists of 8 modules to be taken in a sequential manner, each module has a duration of 3 weeks except one (i.e., module 4), which is double in length. In addition to the frontal video lessons, the course is focused on a series of interactive activities that require very active participation (e.g., debates, webinars, discussion in working groups between participants and teachers, assignments, etc.).
